Gold and Silver Medal Olympian Goalie, USA Women's National Team Sara DeCosta made her first appearance on a U.S. Women's National Team at the 1996 IIHF Pacific Women's Hockey Championship ... also played on the 1995 U.S. Women's National Junior Team ... will be a sophomore at Providence College, where she earned Eastern College Athletic Conference honorable mention in 1996-97 ... graduated from Toll Gate High School in 1996 ... was the backup goalie for two years before stepping into a starting role her final two seasons ... she was the first to girl to ever play in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Championship Division ... in 1995-96, she helped Toll Gate reach the title round against Mount St. Charles, the first time in 14 years that a public school has reached the best-of-three title round ... in that series, which Mount St. Charles won two games to one, DeCosta became the first goalie in 18 years to shut out the Mounties in a title series game when Toll Gate earned a 3-0 decision ... earned her team's MVP award in 1995 and 1996 and was named all-tournament, all-city and all-state ... enjoys playing softball and soccer and skiing ... parents are Frank and Nancy DeCosta.
