Michael Macchioni, CSCS

Mike opened the doors at NEST, the first private sector training facility in Rhode Island geared specifically for athletes, in 1999. A graduate of Merrimack College where he played ice hockey and lacrosse, he worked for noted Strength and Conditioning pioneer Mike Boyle upon completing college. In addition to his duties at NEST, Mike currently serves as the assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins. He has worked with athletes from the NHL, NFL, MLB (several during their formative years in high school), and is a former Strength and Conditioning coach at Providence College. Mike is a past state president of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and USA Weightlifting, and has been a featured speaker at several regional and national conferences for industry professionals. Mike continues to actively participate in Men’s league hockey when not busy working or with his family. Garrett McDonough, CSCS

Garrett has been with NEST since 2003. He is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received a B.S. in Exercise and Sports Science. While attending college, Garrett was an intern Strength and Conditioning Coach, working with the several of the university’s nationally renowned intercollegiate athletic squads. In his time at NEST, he has worked with athletes of all levels from professional to preadolescent. From 2006 -2010 Garrett represented the NEST as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Brown University in addition to his primary responsibility of overseeing the sports training program at the NEST, where he has helped numerous high school and collegiate athletes to excel in their given disciplines and advance to the next level. Allison Lipka, CSCS, USAW Level 1

Allison completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Rhode Island in Spring 2013.  Upon completing her internship experience at the NEST, Allison was, immediately, hired due to her passion in delivering youth athletes a fun, exciting, and results-oriented training experience.  She hopes to compliment this service by assisting the NEST in expanding our youth fitness program.  This program utilizes sports performance training as a vehicle for enhancing fitness, combating youth obesity, and improving nutritional habits. Jason Oliveria, Registered Dietitian / CSCS

Jason Oliveira, is both a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He has held world records in Powerlifting, taught wellness to audiences nation-wide, and can help you achieve your goals whether you are just taking your first steps to a healthier life or training for your next Olympic gold medal.  He handles all of our nutritional planning, including the Boston / Providence Bruins.  He has been training, coaching, and competing in extreme racing for, over, 10 years.  With the popularity of these events, in the past 5 years, Jason has the experience and credentials to help you wether you are an experienced competitior or entering your first race.  He is available for appointments 6 days a week, including evenings. Spencer Webb, BA, CSCS

Spencer graduated, in 2014, with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and Health Science, at Plymouth State University.  He is, currently, pursuing his Master's Degree, in Health Care Administration/Management, from there, as well.  While an undergrad, Spencer was a 4 year NCAA athlete for the Plymouth State Varsity Baseball team.  He came to the NEST as an intern, in 2014, and his sincerity in helping youth athletes resulted in a full-time coaching position, at our Warwick facility.  His coaching skills are very diverse, as he handles Team Training, Small Group Training, and Private Instruction, at the NEST.  One of his specialties is using our batting cages and turf area to transition the functional capacities baseball and softball players develop, in our weight room, into actual hitting, throwing, and fielding drills.  He can be reached at

Andrew Sherman, BA, CSCS

Andrew graduated from the University of Rhode Island, in May 2015, with an undergraduate degree in Kindesiology.  While there he played on the Men's Division One Club Hockey team.  He concluded his last year there as the ACHA 1st Team All-League selection.  After the season ended, Andrew completed his internship requirements at the NEST and took on the role as Facility Director of our North Smithfield location.  He can be  reached at



Wayne Gray, BA, Sports Performance Coach

Wayne received his undergraduate degree, in Kinesiology, in 2015.  He, also, has a concentration in nutrition.  He completed his internship, at the NEST, in December 2014, and continued as a part-time strength coach. He came to the NEST, as a full-time coach, upon graduating, in  May 2015.  As a Nutrition Consultant at Evalife Health, Wellness, and Performance he brings a great deal of experience and knowledge in deseminating the most up-to-date information regarding proper, healthy, and effective supplementation.  He can be reached at
